After canceling tour dates earlier this year, 7 time Grammy award winners Coldplay are back to make amends with a four city stop in Canada amidst their busy European tour, to continue to promote their newest album Vida La Vida. It's hard to believe that with the success that they are currently running on, that Coldplay will be calling it quits in less than two years time. Like Michael Jordan, Coldplay is going out while a top of the game, let's just hope that when they make there comeback wearing the "4" "5", it lasts.
Coldplay's Viva La Vida was recently announced as the best-selling album of 2008 globally according to IFPI. The band also just took home three new GRAMMY awards for Song Of The Year and Best Pop Performance By A Duo Or Group With Vocals for "Viva La Vida"; and Best Rock Album for Viva La Vida.
Coldplay resumed its enormously successful world tour on February 12, playing Japan and Australia before returning to North America for its summer dates. The band, which picked up two Q Awards and two World Music Awards in 2008, was recently honoured with a JUNO Award nomination for “International Album of the Year.”
Viva La Vida was released in June 2008 and charted at No. 1 in 36 countries, including Canada, the United States and the United Kingdom. The album is already 4x Platinum in Canada and is fast approaching 8 million units sold worldwide.
